Aegir Project & Independent Brewery
Aegir Project is a boutique, independent brewery with a quaint taproom attached, situated less than 200 meters from the beach in Noordhoek, Cape Town. We opened our doors in September 2015, renovating a unit in the Red Herring Trading Post.
Central to our brand is our commitment to the consumer, providing exactly what it says on the label, real beer made properly, 100% natural with absolutely no additives.
The passion behind this project can be found in brewer and owner, Rory Lancellas;
“It is not just about making beer but about the science, creativity and infinite possibilities involved in the brewing process. Bottom line is; the brewery is not merely a business but a passion and commitment; to create something authentic, exciting, boundary-pushing and to most importantly have a little fun doing it. Though luckily for me the craft beer industry is rapidly expanding otherwise I would be a penniless man with his dog.“
There are five beers currently forming the core range; a Steam Beer, a Rye beer, an IPA (Indian Pale Ale), an Extra Pale Ale (Uil) and a London style Porter. In addition to these we also produce specialty and seasonal beers.
The Taproom offers all of these beers fresh on tap where you can do a tasting board of the core beers, sit down in the quart yard to have a pint or grab a few bottles for take away.
Trading hours and days
As a working brewery the Taproom attached is only open for trade Fridays 4-7pm, Saturday 12-6pm and Sundays 12-3pm. These hours will increase over Summer periods.
